“True self-discovery begins where your comfort zone ends.” Adam Braun
I’m at one of those crossroads in life. The ones where the very ground you are standing on is shifting and everything you’ve ever knowing is blurring into the past. Part of me wants to run back into the security of the life I once knew, but the must bigger part, is ready to embrace change with open arms. I’m ready to explore being truly free, living by no one else’s rules but my own.
When we’re young children, we all march to the beat of our own drums, caring not what the outside world thinks of us. Then, growing up opinions and the pressure of society begins to mold us into who we think we should be. The deeper I search myself, the more sure I am that the only way to truly be free and happy is to express your purest form of self. So here I go, continuing to venture into a life unknown, unwilling to let fear hold me back, and ready to make mistakes. LA is the land of dreamers, it is a world of possibilities, and it is my home. However, I don’t want to just blend in, I want to embrace everything that makes me different. I am promising myself to do one thing each week that scares me for the next few months. I’m sure some of those challenges will be great, and others I will hate. Regardless, each time I will be pushing myself, growing, and discovering new things in the process.
There is a special kind of fear that comes from the risk associated with stepping out of your comfort zone. However, the risk is far greater if you never open yourself up to explore all the possibilities of the unknown. I challenge each and every one of you to do the same. Share your experiences, learn from them, and continue to keep expanding your own boundaries. There is a certain type of beauty that can only be achieved from empowering yourself enough to get out of your comfort zone.
